Meet Our Veterinarians

Dr. Brian Laing
Veterinarian
In 1980, he received his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Guelph and his DVM degree from the Ontario Veterinary College in 1984.
Upon graduating he received the K.W. Kennel Club Award for small animal medicine and surgery and the P.V.U. Award for small animal medicine, surgery and fluid therapy. Dr Laing did a two week rotation at the Animal Medical Centre, the world’s largest hospital for small animals and a leading center for veterinary medicine and clinical advances.
In 2015, he received the prestigious Ontario Veterinary Medical Association’s ‘Award of Merit’. After working for a year in a mixed practice in Paris Ontario, he bought a Stouffville veterinary clinic in 1985 with Dr. Peter Weidelich. They changed the name to Town & Country Animal Hospital.
He has a special interest in surgery, particularly orthopedic surgery, and as such performs 95% of all surgeries done at Town & Country Animal Hospital.
Furthermore, he is the creator of ‘Best Doggone Diet’, a nutritional App that he developed to help owners help their dog’s at home to either maintain or lose weight safely.
Dr. Laing has been invited to discuss veterinary issues on TV shows such as ‘Your Pet, Your Vet’, and the CBC evening news and is the resident veterinarian of ‘Daytime’, a daily morning program.
Dr. Laing is actively involved in his community. He was past president of the MLEAC, sat on the LSCA Lake Management Stewardship Plan and currently sits on the Science Committe of the MLRA. He also helps out annually with Ballantrae Lions’ fundraiser.

Dr. Brendon Laing
Veterinarian
Brendon has a Bachelor of Science degree from Queen’s University (2009) and a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from the University of Guelph (2013). He is also a recipient of the prestigious Small Animal Surgery Award from the American College of Veterinary Surgeons. After graduation, he joined his father in practice at Town & Country Animal Hospital, making them a rare father-son team.
When Dr. Laing isn’t serving the pet community, he spends his time with his wife, Cassandra, and his dogs Olive & Watson. He has always had a passion for travelling, and has been involved in previous years with Global Vets – an organization devoted to the care of animals around the world.
In the summer of 2011, Brendon’s passion for animal brought him to Thailand where he did 6 weeks of volunteering at an animal shelter, a marine conservation and an elephant santuary.

Dr. Melissa Pinto
Veterinarian
When Dr. Melissa is not at the hospital, she enjoys spending time with her dog, Joey, and her two cats, Mariah Hairy and Beatrix. She also loves taking on new challenges. Most recently, she began dancing hula and loves learning more about Hawaiian culture through its most celebrated art form.
Meet Our Team

Cassandra
Hospital Manager

Christine
Hospital Manager
She believes strongly that it’s important to be actively involved in the community you live in. She was past president and is currently an executive of the MLRA. She sat on the LSCA Stewardship Plan for Musselman Lake. For years, she was the hockey and soccer manager of two of her kid’s competitive teams and presently sits on the executive of the Stouffville Off-leash dog park.
In her “free time”, apart from skiing and scuba diving, she does every imaginable crafty hobby and loves doing construction work side by side with her husband and son, Dr. Brian and Dr. Brendon Laing. She can be seen more often at the clinic now that her eldest daughter is off studying Law at Queen’s University and her youngest is doing her Master’s at the University of Saskatoon.

Keira
Care Coordinator
Her friendly personality and extensive involvement over the years with animals are what made us jump at the opportunity to add her to our “We Care Team”.
Apart from working with animals, she has been involved with many pet contests for her community fairs and festivals. She married her high school sweetheart Nick, and has two lovely girls, Sara and Nicole. She is the proud owner to two ‘crazy’ dogs, Copper, a beautiful golden retriever, and Lacy, a cockapoo as well as Shadow, her cat.
When Keira is not at the clinic, she is busy lost in her craft room doing scrapbooking.

Leanne
Care Coordinator
Leanne can also be found training with Jazz on the dog agility course in hope of one day competing.

Katie
Veterinary Nurse
When not working at TCAH, she can be found enjoying the great outdoors with her four legged family.

Carrie
Veterinary Assitant
She took a chance and dropped off a resume after she moved to Stouffville. Once we saw her credentials and met her in person, it was an easy decision to hire her. Not only is she knowledgeable and efficient, she believes in giving back. Every fall, she runs and does fundraising for the Terry Fox event.
Carrie shares her home with Byron, her golden retriever mix, Gibson her cat and her partner Chad. When she is not at the clinic, she can be found enjoying the great outdoors camping and mountain biking.

Jennifer
Veterinary Assitant
When she is not greeting everyone at the reception desk or assisting our veterinarians, you can find her with her family. She is the wife to her hubby Brandon, mother to her two kids, Zach and Kassandra. She is a proud pet parent to her her bouncing gazelle Rottweiler “Kaeden, her energizer bunny American Bulldog “Tundra, her Chihuahua cross “Lily”, her two cats Oscar and Esme and her many many frogs.
